Having taught at many venues in the UK, I find that I always looked forward with great anticipation to teach for Sue. It is difficult enough to run a massage school in a large metropolitan area, but Sue provides a great service to our community through her own teaching. She has a sincere passion for providing the best education available in a caring and professional atmosphere. I wish all schools were so organized and dedicated and recommend the There Training Centre very highly,

I've had the pleasure to work with Sue Lincoln at Therapy Training Centre on several occasions, and find her to be dedicated, caring, intelligent, and truly interested in helping her students become better therapists. The school is a professional setting that provides students the opportunity to learn and practice techniques. Yorkshire is lucky to have Sue providing the service she gives.

About this course

This course is intended for fully qualified Massage therapists who have undertaken a level 3 diploma in Massage and completed a level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology. Anyone can enrol on this course

No Requirements

School certificate which is recognised by all major insurers and Professional Associations.

Therapy Training Centre was developed after it was discovered that there was a lack of expert training in the area, leading to recognised qualifications in Training Courses in Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Human Anatomy and membership of recognised professional bodies in the therapies offered, and therefore is responding to the need for high quality training in the Yorkshire area.

The Centre offers an open and caring atmosphere, which engenders feelings of enjoyment in learning, and an awareness of self-development and aims to provide programmes of extensive practical and theoretical studies in each of the courses offered.

Therapy Training Centre provides accredited courses of Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioners' Association (A.A.P.A.), who accredit the Anatomy and Physiology, Massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy courses. The Centre’s status allows its graduate members of the AAPA to register with the CNHC as the AAPA is recognised by the CNHC for the verification of aromatherapy, reflexology and massage.

The Centre also offers a comprehensive range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses.

Students will cultivate an understanding of complementary health care from a holistic standpoint and develop the ability to evaluate and analyse complementary therapies in the framework of allopathic medicine.

What is Reiki?

The practice of Reiki is believed to come from ancient texts rediscovered and developed by Mikao Usui in Japan. The Japanese word Reiki means 'Universal Energy'. Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to the well being of life. The energy is known as 'ki' in Japan, 'chi' in China, and 'prana' in India. Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Yoga are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person. As a therapy, Reiki is an effective and simple way of tapping into this energy, and transferring it for the benefit of the receiver, to stimulate the body's own natural healing potential.

What are the Benefits?

The energy of Reiki can be used to great effect in many ways. Whether one is suffering from stress or tension, and the many symptoms associated with this, or wishing to improve the quality of relationships at home or work, the beneficial effects of Reiki occur on many levels. Reiki can accelerate the healing of physical problems, balance the emotions, and free us from restrictive mental attitudes. It may also provide a closer connection with inner wisdom.

Reiki encourages and supports positive personal change such as improving the diet, having more rest, exercise or leisure time, and may reduce the need for alcohol and tobacco. Reiki can allow us to respond more calmly to all events, and build on a more resourceful state of being. Reiki is a gentle energy and may be used safely by all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, regardless of their state of health. Reiki can enhance everyday life, and regular sessions help to ward-off illness and fatigue.

Reiki is a non-invasive therapy that can be used without fear of any side effects or overdose. It may be used with confidence alongside conventional medication or natural remedies because it acts in a complementary way. Reiki is being used in GP surgeries, hospices, cancer support groups, post-operative recovery, drug rehabilitation, prisons, HIV / AIDS centres, and care of the elderly.

Can anyone learn Reiki?

The ability to channel Reiki cannot be learnt from a book or by instruction. To be able to receive Reiki, students go through a special initiation, which 'attunes' them to the Reiki energy. Over time this connection is improved through practice, and by actually using the Reiki energy on themselves - typically known as 'self treatment'. It is considered essential to treat oneself with Reiki, and indeed many people use it exclusively for reasons of personal development, healthcare and stress-management.

An initiation/attunement can only be performed by a Reiki Master (teacher). It is felt that this process harmonises a person with the Reiki energy so they can receive and pass it on to others. This process is not exclusive; anyone can be attuned/initiated to Reiki regardless of his or her spiritual or religious beliefs. Additional stages of attunements/initiations and the use of the Reiki symbols, further enhance the practitioner's ability to utilise the Reiki energy, focusing it for specific purposes.

What are the symbols?

The Reiki symbols are devices used by Reiki practitioners who have been attuned to use them, to focus their intent for specific uses and are an integral part of the attunement/initiation process. The Reiki symbols are held to be dear and sacrosanct and may vary across the different styles of Reiki.

Additional information

MASSAGE DIPLOMA I enrolled on the AAPA and Sue Lincoln School of Holistic Therapies – Diploma in Therapeutic Massage Course in September 2011, I already had a massage qualification from 7 years ago, but felt I needed to “brush up” on my massage skills. This course seemed to offer a recap on my current skills and also cover new areas. The course exceeded my expectations. Sue’s teaching style encourages participation and active learning. Her knowledge base is vast and as well as teaching the basics she is able to diversify and has the expertise to teach many different approaches and treatment techniques. The training days were thoroughly enjoyable and I never felt I was in “school “. A highly recommended learning experience! I have now developed a different approach to my clients, addressing their problems more specifically with assessment and making my massages more goal orientated.  I feel my skills as a massage therapist have dramatically improved since completing this course with Sue.
