2. Course description This course mainly consists of Biology, Chemistry and Physics units (of equal weighting). There are additional compulsory modules in Mathematics (Level 3), Study Skills and Information Technology (Level 2/3). In Biology, students will cover the following specific units: Cell Structure and Function; Genes and Proteins; Human Physiology; Genes and Inheritance; and Ecology and Evolution. In Chemistry, students will explore specific units of: Patterns in Chemistry; Chemical Kinetics; Organic Chemistry; Chemistry and the Environment; as well as Structure and Properties of Biological Molecules. In Physics, students will cover specific units including: Health Physics; Electricity; Units, Motions and Forces; Waves and Telecommunications; and Mechanical Properties of Materials. The programme is taught through a mix of formal lessons, laboratory practical's, group work and independent presentations.
