Biology - AS/A2
What will I study?
This course will provide an understanding of biological principles and will develop a scientific approach to problem solving and to develop practical skills. The subject will encourage an understanding of biological applications and provide scientific training for possible employment or as a foundation for courses in Higher Education.

How can I progress?
*Progression to A2 is dependent on passing AS. *Students can also progress further to Higher Education

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course, students must have; *Five GCSE's at grade C or above (including two science subjects or science double award at two grade B's). *Mature students will be considered on an individual basis according to their qualifications and past experience.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; AS *Biology and disease BIOL1, *The variety of living organisms BIOL2, *Investigative and practical skills in AS Biology BIOL3. A2 *Populations and environment BIOL4, *Control in cells and in organisms BIOL5, *Investigative and practical skills in A2 Biology BIOL6, *How Science Works, *Guidance on Centre Assessment, *Mathematical Requirements. *Coursework is an essential component of both AS and A2 and is based on planning, implementing, analysing and evaluating a practical investigation.
