Course Content:
Unit 4: Comparative Literary Studies (exam). Write an essay comparing the language in two set texts and comparing their contexts Unit 5: Texts and Audience (exam). Section A: interpret an extract from a set play. Section B: use given materials to write for a specific audience, then write a commentary to compare your writing with the sources Unit 6: Synoptic Paper (exam). Use a framework to analyse extracts from different types of text, then write a commentary on how the framework helped you to analyse

Other Information:
You will need to buy, King Lear and The Winter's Tale by Shakespeare and A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley. You could also buy Exploring Language and Literature by Croft & Myers, to study with at home.

Progression:
Successful students progress to Higher education, in other subjects such as Journalism or Law, or to employment.
