This unit introduces learners to the major political ideologies in the UK: Liberalism, conservatism and socialism, which have all had an impact on the political life in the UK and have influenced the policies of successive goverments.
The unit goes on to consider other significant ideologies: anarchism, nationalism, feminism, ecologism and multiculturalism. The origins of the ideologies are examined with the context of their development and their influence on present day government.
It will be seen that key themes often cut across several ideologies and this will enable us to observe the relationship between them.
