A2 Level in Art and Design (Photography)
Course content:
On the A level course with an endorsement in Photography, students will complete practical and critical work associated with chemical and digital means.
Units 1 and 2 are completed at AS level. There are
2 more units to complete at A2 level:-

Students will keep a journal/sketchbook of their research and analysis addressing visual and technical aspects of the subject. Students will discuss and assess contemporary and historical examples of photography to aid their awareness of the subject.
Students' work may include one or more area(s) of Photography, such as those listed below:
- Portraiture, documentary and/or photo-journalism
- Landscape photography (urban, rural and coastal)
- Working from objects, still life or from the natural world.
- Experimental imagery.
Assessment procedure:
A one year course comprising of 2 units one of which is a written unit for the full Advanced level qualification.
Entry requirements:
Students should have successfully achieved the AS qualification in Photography ideally D or above.
Qualifications achieved:
GCE A2 Level Art and Design, awarded by AQA
Progression opportunities:
The A level in Photography will support other A level subjects as an entry qualification into many H.E courses.
Those students specifically interested in Photography can continue their development through a Foundation Diploma programme leading to a degree course of study in Photography or Art & Design or Foundation Degree courses in Applied Art, Media Design (Publishing) and Photography.
