Course Units AS Level units: ART F1 - Unit 1 (50%)

· Experimental and abstract techniques
· Photographic genres
· Understanding context

ART F2 - Unit 2 (50%)

· A five hour controlled test (set by the Awarding Body) to produce development work, with a four week preliminary studies period

A2 Level units: In the second year, students develop a more critical approach to the subject areas, choosing a personal theme to research, experiment in, analyse, evaluate and produce a final body of work. ART F3 - Unit 3 This coursework project enables students to produce work in their own style via a personal investigation. ART F4 - Unit 4 Unit 4 is an externally set and moderated unit that has four weeks of preparation and a 15-hour controlled test.

Other Information Cost: As there are only a limited number of College cameras which are strictly on a first come first served basis, students should be prepared to purchase: a DSLR camera, memory pen and/or card reader, portable hard drive, photographic printing paper, mounting board and other ancillary items needed during this course. Evening class students do not have access to College cameras or lenses and will need to have their own 10 megapixel camera or similar prior to joining. Students will have access to Apple Mac computers with Photoshop CS3 software, scanners and colour printers. Please note: It is not possible to study Photography with a 'point and shoot' digital camera as they do not have the required range of functions to enable full creativity
