Mathematics is a subject that combines well in any A Level programme. It is highly regarded both for entry to Higher Education and the workplace and has been shown to improve earnings potential by up to 10%*.
The A Level course comprises 3 modules in each of the AS and A2 years. The core courses (2 modules each year) develop skills of logical reasoning and argument through the use of algebra, graph sketching and number patterns. These are complemented by a further module each year in which these skills are applied.

Course Units The AS modules in more detail: Core Mathematics C1 This module develops the fundamental algebraic techniques learnt at GCSE level and includes functions, co-ordinate geometry sequences and an introduction to calculus. Core Mathematics C2 C2 builds on the topics from C1 and introduces exponentials, logarithms and trigonometry. Decision Mathematics D1 This module introduces concepts such as application of algorithms, linear programming, critical path analysis and matchings, all of which have become increasingly important to today's business environment. To complete the A Level, modules C3 and C4 must be taken with one other module. This is likely to be either a Mechanics or Statistics module.
