You will examine society, culture and identity, religiion, crime and deviance and sociological theory and methods.
This unit will enable students to appreciate the influence of beliefs on Contemporary social life by providing different sociological interpretations of the functions and influence of religion in various forms. The study of Crime and deviance will enable students to explore the processes of stratification and differentation and the way they affect life outcomes. Students will be able to appreciate the significance of theoretical and conceptual issues in the sociological debate as well as understand and evaluate sociological methodology and a range of research methods through active involvement in the research process.
