Your studies will involve:
Taking photographs, both traditionally and using digital techniques. Working to a variety of set briefs or themes you will learn by:
Exploring the work of other key photographers;
Exploring and experimenting with visual language;
Exploring the historical and contemporary developments within photography;

There is no requirement to demonstrate a high degree of drawing skills.

You will have the opportunity to explore and experiment within portraiture, still-life, documentary, advertising and creative experimental imagery.

Course programme

This programme is for anyone who wants to get behind the lens and learn how photographers create meaning. A Level Photography is about far more than just the technical aspects of using a camera and includes the study of photography in a historical and social context. This programme encourages you to be creative and includes video and digital manipulation alongside the study of traditional darkroom techniques.
You will achieve the AS/A Level in Art and Design: Photography awarded by AQA.
You will learn in a variety of ways, including demonstrations, skills workshops and formal lessons. Assessment will be a mix of coursework portfolio and externally set assignments.
