CRITICAL THINKING

Why should I come to Pendleton College?
Critical thinking will train you to strengthen your skills. You will study the different parts of an argument and learn to spot the flaws and assumptions that people make when they try to persuade others. You will learn how to develop good arguments on your own. Critical thinking is an AS Level course that can be studied in year one or two, in addition to your main A-Level programme. Critical skills can be applied in nearly all subject areas: humanities, languages, sciences and arts. It links particularly well to those subjects that involve debate and discussion. For these reasons, Critical Thinking is viewed by many of the top universities as a valuable additional course to study at college.

What will I study?
This one year course consists of two modules:

  • Introduction to Critical Thinking (Assessing Credibility)
  • Assessing and Developing Arguments
