What will I do on this course?
This course provides a natural progression from GCSE Design and
Technology. It provides an opportunity to use your innovative and creative abilities. You can also develop your capacity to design products and appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. It covers all aspects of the design process giving you the opportunity to take the product design process through from initial ideas to final design. New technologies are explored and you will look at how the latest innovations are being used in the next generation of products. You will have access to fully equipped workshops and CAD facilities and will be taught by specialist tutors.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is via coursework and end of year exams. For your
coursework, you will carry out a major design project, producing a design portfolio and, where appropriate, producing a final product. The exam will assess your understanding of the design process, relevant materials and manufacturing technology and marketing.

An A Level in Design Technology when combined with other related A Levels will give you access to a wide range of design related higher education courses including: Product Design, Transport Design, Graphic Design, Computer Aided Design and
