Course programme
Economics is designed for students who have not studied the subject before as well as those who may have followed a GCSE (or similar) course. It is a stimulating and enjoyable course as well as being a great introduction to the many varied job and career possibilities in economics today.

Include the content in the National Economy in a global context (above) plus:
- Financial markets and monetary policy
- Fiscal policy and supply side policies

AS and A Level
How will I be assessed?At AS Level there are two written examinations. Each exam consists of objective test questions and data response questions. For A level students there are three exams one each for markets and market failure and the national and international economy, both consist of data response questions and an essay question. The third exam is economic principles and issues and consists of multiple choice questions and a case study. These exams will be taken at the end of the two year course.

What are the entry requirements?Minimum qualifications: Full level 2
Minimum of 5 GCSE's achieved at grade C or above to include Maths and English/English Language.

English and Maths
English and maths qualifications are vitally important for future employers and universities, so the government has made it a priority for students to improve these skills.
Entry Level / Level 1 and Level 2: We’re here to help you on your journey, so if you do not achieve grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths, then you will study English and/or maths as part of your college course.
Students who achieve a D grade will be placed on the relevant GCSE programme, while students who achieve an E or below will be assessed to ensure they are placed on the right study programme for their ability.
Level 3 programmes: You will need to meet the course entry requirements specified on the course information above. For the majority of our Level 3 courses, students will need grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths. If this is not specified in the course entry requirement, then you may be able to study English and/or maths as part of your college course.
What can I do after this course?Economics A level can lead to a wide range of career options because of the skills that are developed. It can be studied on its own at university or combined with a range of other subjects for example mathematics, politics or geography.

The 24+ Advanced Learning Loan
If you are 24 or over at start of this course, you can apply for a new loan to cover the course fees. There are no repayments until the course is completed and you are earning £21000 or more. Therefore if you earn up to £21000 a year there’s nothing to pay back. If you earn £22000 a year your loan repayments would be as little as £7 per month. Call us for more information.
