Health & Social Care
Qualification: AS/A Level EDEXCEL

Duration: 1 / 2 years
If you want to mix Health and Social Care with other subjects choose this option. You can do either the single or double version of the course. If you have an enquiring mind and an interest in the health and social care of people in the community, then this is the course for you. For the dual award 6 units must be studied e.g. Human Growth and Development and Social Aspects and Lifestyle choices. There will be an opportunity for work experience in two of the units. Students should choose a further qualification (e.g. an AS/A Level or skills for life) to complete their timetable.
The GCE AS/A2 Levels in Health and Social Care offers committed students the opportunity to develop skills/knowledge and understanding which will prepare them for progression into a variety of sectors such as nursing and social work.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
