What will I do on this course?

English Literature A Level offers you the opportunity to explore and enjoy fiction, non-fiction and old and new writing. Group discussions form a large part of this course and there will be visits to relevant theatre productions. You will be expected to read independently and widely during the course and to discuss your independent reading with others. It is not possible to choose to study this subject if you are studying English Language and Literature.

Areas of study include:

· Shakespeare
· Drama.

How will I be assessed?
Through a combination of written examinations and coursework.

Progression
English Literature A Level when combined with other A Levels is an excellent course for progressing to university. Last year 50% of our students went onto study English at university after their course. The analytical abilities developed in English are useful in subjects including: law, politics, business, advertising, media and teaching.
