The first year (AS) includes: the study of the way that films convey meaning through the use of various conventions (e.g. camerawork, editing, sound, etc.) and apply these to the analysis of a variety of films. You will also study aspects of the British and Hollywood film industries (production, distribution and exhibition) and how audiences interact with these. You will also study British Film through Cultural Study of Swinging Britain 1963 to 1973 and/or Identity Study and belonging and make a historical Comparative Study of 2 American Films. The second year (A2) includes: the study of World cinema through either Cinematic New Waves and/or Urban Stories about Power, Poverty and Conflict. You will develop your AS work through further Close Critical Film analysis. You will study Spectatorship and Documentary.
