What will I do on this course?

This course will give you the opportunity to study the British political system and the important issues in British politics today. You will
be expected to keep up-to-date with current affairs and participate in the many opportunities for lively discussion in class.

Subjects include:

· Political parties, pressure groups and civil rights
· How Parliament works and voting behaviour
· Elections and the electoral system in the UK
· The relationship between the United Kingdom and the European
Union.

In the past many politics students have participated in debating
competitions and greatly benefited from the experience. There will be a visit to the Houses of Parliament during the course.

How will I be assessed?
A combination of written examinations and coursework.
