What will I do on this course?
Production work is an important component of A Level Media Studies. It is worth 50% of the A Level. At AS Level you will complete the foundation portfolio in media. This is a practical piece of work based on a film. In this you will use new media technologies to produce the opening sequence to a new fiction film. The second part of the course is an examination based on the key concepts of media studies including the textual analysis of a range of media. In the second year of the course, you
will embark upon an advanced production piece, intended to extend the skills you will have learnt during your AS year. The other part of the A2 course covers more theoretical ideas related to media studies including a wide range of contemporary issues and debates.
How will I be assessed?
A combination of coursework and examinations.
