About this course
At least 5 GCSEs in the A*-C range, to include Music (if taken) and English Language at grade B or above and Mathematics at grade C or above. You will also need to have achieved grade 5 in your music. If you have not taken GCSE Music you will be invited for an individual interview to discuss your music experience.

What will I do on this course?
A Level Music will give you the opportunity to develop skills in performing, composing, listening and understanding music and will include:
· Preparing pieces for solo and ensemble performing
· Writing one free composition and two composition exercises
· Studying six to seven set works, including an anthology of music in the first year.
The second year extends this work and you will gain confidence in analysing compositions. You will have access to a chamber orchestra, string ensemble, flute ensemble, swing/jazz band, practice facilities for numerous rock bands and a 60 strong youth choir who regularly sing abroad. These activities are delivered at our Worle School site.
How will I be assessed?
A combination of coursework, examinations and practical assessment.

A Level Music when combined with other related A Levels is an excellent qualification for progressing to university to study music. Career opportunities exist in the music industry, as a Performer, Composer or Technician.
