The A Level Performance and Media Package combines two applied A Levels.
The course design enables students to develop broad vocational skills, knowledge and understanding based on the practical needs and concerns of the performing arts and media industries. Although the course contains a theoretical element, the main focus is on
practical activity. Students will study six units per A Level.
The A Level Performance and Media Package is made up of three combined areas that you will take over two years. These are compulsory:

· Performing Arts A Level
· Media: Communication & Production A Level
· Key Skills IT level 2/3 (as appropriate)

Course Units Performing Arts A Level units include:

· Exploring Skills for Performance
· Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts
· Advanced Performance Practice (or) Advanced Production Practice

Media: Communication & Production A Level units include:

· Skills for Media Production
· Research and Development for Media Production
· Professional Practice in the Media Industries

Successful applicants who have GCSE Maths at grade D or below will also be expected to re-take the qualification. Popular choices are: The three parts of the Performance and Media Package plus:

· One subject at AS in year one
· One subject at A2 in year two
· GCSE Maths
= 3 A Levels + GCSE Maths + Functional Skills

For example: A Levels: Performing Arts, Media: Communication & Production, Art OR The three parts of the Performance and Media Package plus:

· Two subjects at AS in year one
· One subject at A2 in year two
= 3 A Levels + 1 AS + Functional Skills

For example: A Levels: Performing Arts, Media: Communication & Production, Dance. AS Level: Photography This course is ideally suited to students who are interested in developing their practical skills in Performance (Drama, Dance, Music) and Media (Film and Television).

Assessment You will be assessed in practical ways with no written exams. Your Performance A Level will be assessed through portfolio and performance. Media: Communication & Production A Level will be assessed through portfolio and show reel.

Further Opportunities Students are well placed to be able to find employment in the media and/or performing arts industries. Progression to Degree, Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma courses in Dance, Drama, Music, Film and Television Production, Radio, Arts Management and Events Management.
