What will I do on this course?

A Level Sociology allows you to explore the nature of society. It examines the ways people are influenced and moulded by the social group they live in. The course will encourage you to cast a critical eye on social institutions such as:

· Health, illness, disability and aspects of healthcare
· Culture and identity
· Crime and deviance
· Beliefs.

In both years 1 and 2 these units combine the study of research methods. You will evaluate explanations and theories of social life and put these to practical use in the units at AS and A2 Level which focus on research methods and theory. The ability to understand and carry out your own research is an important element of this course.
