Units of study include Education, Family and Households, Research Methods, Crime and Deviance plus others. The course includes a wide variety of learning experiences such as lectures, one to one tutorials, ICT Based tasks, practical work, group work, discussions and use of media such as documentaries, and personal research when preparing for assessments. Also, as part of your course in Sociology you will be offered the chance to go on several educational visits including a trip to New York, which includes many new cultural experiences including a tour of the United Nations. There is also a visit to Keele University's Sociology department for A level students.

Course programme

At A Level assessment again takes place in the form of three examinations taken at the end of two years. While at AS there is two exams at the end of the first year. During each academic year students will also be assessed internally to prepare them for the external exams mentioned above. There is a rigorous schedule of assessments based on past examination questions assessed under exam conditions in class. Students are required to revise for these as homework.
