About this course

This apprenticeship is suitable for those currently employed in this sector or looking to secure employment within this sector as a Trainee Accounting Technician or Assistant Accountant. Accountants usually start working in a support role within a firm of accountants or in the accounts or finance departments of organisations in industry, commerce or the public sector. However, there are opportunities for progression with experience. As an Assistant Accountant you may gain exposure to bookkeeping, auditing, tax, payroll and related assignments. You may also be in contact with clients and would require good communications skills.

This is dependent on your employer and on the level of the apprenticeship you apply for.

You will normally need at least grade C or above in your English and maths GCSEs.

If you don't have these, don't worry. You can work towards your functional skills in English and maths alongside your apprenticeship training at St Helens College.
