Course programme

No formal qualifications are required. A key skills initial assessment will be required for all applicants who do not hold one of the following: - Qualification at Level 2 or above in a related field, (e.g. bookkeeping, business administration) - GCSE grade C or above in maths or English - Recent, relevant work experience (on agreement with Course Tutor) Course Content There are specified units which make up the key roles of the accounting occupation at this level. These units are as follows; Processing Bookkeeping Transactions Basic Costing Computerised Accounting Working effectively in Accounting and Finance Control Accounts journals and banking systems Further details to the content and syllabus for each of these units can be obtained from the AAT website (www.aat.org.uk) Study Requirements You will need a great deal of commitment, and will be expected undertake additional work as well as that done during college classes (on average 3 to 6 hours per week). How will I be assessed? You are required to successfully complete a Computer Based Assessment for each unit detailed above. Progression Progress onto the AAT Intermediate stage (Level 3 Diploma), and subsequently to the AAT Technician stage (Level 4 Diploma) and AAT membership. Fees Aged 19-23 years Tuition fees £428 Exam costs £205 Total payable to Weymouth College £633 Aged 24 years + Tuition fees £1060 Exam costs £205 Total payable to Weymouth College £1265 Textbooks will be required at an approximate cost of £75, payable direct to the publisher or your chosen bookstore. All students will be required to register with the AAT as a Student Member. This incurs an initial subscription fee of £40, plus an annual membership fee of £88, payable directly to the AAT. Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancels the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. Fees - All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment. Fee Reductions If you are in receipt of an income based qualifying benefit, you may be entitled to a fee reduction. To qualify for the fee reduction an up to date award document, or a letter from the benefit agency, must be shown at the time of enrolment.
