All units except for Computerised Accounting are assessed by on-line tests, which are set by and marked by the AAT. Computerised Accounting is assessed by a project I case study which is set by the AAT,but marked by a college tutor. All assessments are carried out in college under exam or controlled conditions.

Course programme
Processing bookkeeping transactions:
- Processing and recording sales and purchases,receipts from customers and payments to suppliers.
- Preparing a Trial Balance.
Control accounts, journals and the banking systems:
- Banking procedures.
- Maintaining and reconciling the cash book and the petty cash book.
- Using control accounts and journals.
Basic costing:
- Identifying and analysing income and expenditure.
- Classifying and coding costs.
- Stock valuation.
- Labour costs.
- Budgeting and the comparison of income and costs.
Computerised Accounting:
- Ethical and security issues relating to processing and holding electronic data.
- Using computerised accounting software to process a range of business transactions. Sage Accounting is used at Craven College.
- Exporting and linking data to other software applications.
Work Effectively in Accounting and Finance:
- The relationships between the accounting and payroll functions and the other departments within an organisation.
- Working as part of a team.

Course Fees
Under 19s: College and exam fees may be free,but you will have to pay AAT registration, annual membership and book fees (see below)
Ages 19 and over: £420 (plus extra costs below)
Extra Costs
The AAT charge student members £41 as an initial joining fee, plus an annual fee of £90. These are payable directly to the AAT.
Exam fees are £180.
AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
