Able Skills City & Guilds 6217 Carpentry

Able Skills can offer you the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds qualification in carpentry. This is an intensive 6 weeks of hands on training, during which time you will build a portfolio of your work. This course can be covered over a period to suit you as long as you complete the entire course within 18 months. You can train for 6 consecutive weeks or divide your weeks up. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

The course will provide you with in depth training during which time you will be assessed by our qualified carpentry assessors. The entire City & Guilds process is completed here on site at Able Skills which ensures this course is delivered using the correct procedures and without delay.

There are 6 mandatory Units and you must complete any 2 Units from the 3 optional units to be awarded a certificate in full.

The 6 Mandatory Units are:

001 Fixing Skirting to a timber background

002 Fixing floor joists and laying flooring

003 Fixing door lining in stud partition or blockwork opening

004 Hanging an internal door

005 Making a casement window

058 Fixing and stabilising trussed rafters

The 3 Optional Units are:

059 Accessing for carpentry and joinery

060 Setting out and cutting one pair of common rafters

061 Operating basic wood machines

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
