This course is designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of plastering whether you are a total beginner or someone who has some knowledge of plastering. No previous experience is necessary in order for you to take part in this intensive plastering course.
If you are looking to take plastering a step further and to gain speed and technique, you can spend another 5 days with us on our Advanced plastering course. Additionally, we are also able to offer you a City & Guilds Plastering qualification.
This is a 6 week course and can be achieved over an 18 month period; you can arrange a timetable of training to suit your ongoing commitments. Upgrade to City & Guilds qualifications.After having spent a week with us plastering on an intensive course you may decide to upgrade to the City & Guilds or CAA ICA option, these are 6 week long courses and will provide you with recognised qualifications. Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the week spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge. Equal training and facilities will be offered to everyone regardless of whether you choose a 5 or 10 day course or the City & Guilds/CAA options. All Instructors at Able Skills have been selected because of their on site construction experience and their relevant teaching qualifications.
Able Skills Intensive 5 day Plastering Course.
We will cover every aspect of Plastering that we can and feel confident that after spending 5 or 10 days with us, you will be ready to tackle everyday plastering requirements. Should you be looking to do a DIY project or for a change in career, we feel confident that any of our plastering courses will suit your needs.At the start of your plastering course, you will be provided with a folder and day by day schedule of the different stages you will be covering throughout the period of your training. We will also explain and demonstrate all the different materials used for different surfaces. Plastering Tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated.You will learn:
To cut and fix plaster board to walls and ceilings.
To tape standard and internal joints.
To cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals.
To prepare surfaces before plastering using bonding plaster and finishing plaster, ensuring a flat finished surface ready for decorating.
To mix plastering materials.
To skim walls.
To skim ceilings.
To apply PVA adhesive Unibond to existing surfaces.
To render external walls using sand and cement.
At Able Skills, we try to make all training as accessible to everyone as possible. If you would like to learn to plaster but have work or other weekly commitments, we offer plastering training over 2 consecutive weekends. This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.
At the end of your plastering course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us; this may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
Once you have completed training with Able Skills we can offer you after course support and advice on any plastering projects you are undertaking.
Additionally, we can provide you with a Business start up pack containing useful information and guidance on printing (business cards), opening a business bank account, public liability insurance and website design.
