Able Skills Weekend Carpentry

ABLE SKILLS also offers the Carpentry course over 2 consecutive week end periods for those unable to attend Monday to Friday due to other commitments.

The course content remains unchanged, 5 days training condensed into 4.

These courses are designed to cover basic areas of carpentry however, if there are any additional requirements you have, we will do our best to accommodate you.

With these new skills you will have the confidence to take on everyday DIY projects around the house or develop your expertise to a career in carpentry. Should a career in carpentry be your choice, Able Skills can offer you a City & Guilds carpentry qualification.

Throughout the duration of your time with us, all tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated. This is a hands-on, practical course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the course. It is essential you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

This course will take you through:

Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc.

Cut basic joints

Cut and fit dado rails, architraves, skirtings and doorstops

Erect a stud-wall

Fit a door lining/frame

Hang a door

Fit a lock

At the end of your carpentry course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion, and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us. This may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
