Abrasive Wheels
ABRASIVE WHEELS Entry Requirements
This course is designed for persons working with abrasive wheels, in particular if they are designated to change wheels. All delegates must be at least 18 years of age.
Description
Abrasive wheels are used in many areas and can be highly dangerous. The course involves both classroom and practical sessions covering not just the health and safety regulations and safe working practices, but also providing a practical session for wheel/disc changing and mounting.

Note: Please state what type of Abrasive Wheels/Grinders you have, when enquiring about this course.
Course Content
· Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
· Hazards arising when using abrasive wheels/discs
· Methods of marking, storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels
· Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
· How to operate your abrasive wheel safely and look after the machine
· Protective clothing
· Truing and dressing an abrasive wheel
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
Assessment will be ongoing during the day and a short test taken on conclusion of course.
