For example, some learners are dyslexic, but have nevertheless succeeded in fulfilling their ambition to study at a higher level. The programme is also designed to accommodate the needs of parents and people who have flexible work patterns.
Progression: This pathway leads onto Dip HE Nursing and Degree course in Nursing and Midwifery. The local universities are: Manchester, Salford, Manchester Metropolitan University and Huddersfield. Please note that Midwifery is very competitive. You will need an A level and Access to HE if you are to apply to Manchester University. You must also have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualifications before any University will accept you.
Entry Requirement:
In offering places on this programme we will take account of a number of factors including.
· Skill Level
Whether you have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy and IT qualifications.
· Life Experience
We expect applicants to have substantial experience outside education, such as working, or bringing up children, which suggest that they have the maturity and enough self-organisation to cope with the Access course.

We will discuss your career goals and how the programme fits in with these, the time commitment required for the course and financial issues.
· When and how long
The programme will usually last two years with the exception being learners who already have GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above, or any equivalent Level 2 qualification. The route most appropriate for you will depend not only on the skills you already have, but also your level of confidence and previous experience.
