Course review:

Our Access to Higher Education Diploma gives you a second chance if you missed out on education for whatever reason.

The majority of students who successfully complete the course go straight to university, others change career and all describe Fircroft as a life-changing experience.

The course is modular which means you can influence the content of your course. The main focus is Social Sciences/Humanities.

Joining a residential college has real social and educational benefits. Although most places on the Access course are residential, a number of students are allowed to be non-resident if they have dependants.

Delivery is full-time from the end of September to May. Tutors encourage active learning, and work in class is backed up by workshops, tasks and tutorials.Students age from 20 to 70, come from all over the UK and bring a wide variety of experience and perspectives. What they have in common is a commitment to learn.

The college has an outstanding reputation for student support. This includes financial, learning and personal support.

There are no formal qualifications required to get on the course. Instead we assess your readiness for the course in terms of literacy and numeracy, your ability to think and how motivated you are. Many learners find it very beneficial to undertake some short courses at Fircroft, in preparation for the Access Diploma. In particular, the Skills for Learning programme has been designed specifically to help students wishing to progress onto Access to Higher Education..
