Course programme

Course overview Why do we behave the way we do? What makes us happy, jealous, angry or sad? Are we free or controlled by society, government and the media? When you choose to study an Access Higher Education Diploma (Social Science) you will be encouraged to ask thought-provoking questions about human behaviour and the way we choose to live our lives. It is a fascinating subject, but especially suitable if you are thinking of a career that involves working with people, such as Social Work, Community Outreach, Policing or working with charities. Entry requirements We welcome applications from anyone who wishes to move into higher education, regardless of age. You must have either GCSE English Language/English or GCSE maths at C grade or above. If you do not have these you will be asked to complete diagnostic tests lasting up to two hours to enable us to consider your suitability for our Access to Higher Education (Foundation) course which focuses precisely on the development of maths, English, IT and study skills to enable you to successfully complete an Access to Higher Education course. You will also be asked to attend an interview where you will have the opportunity to discuss your options and decide on the most suitable course.
