This Access to HE pathway leads to a diploma qualification at level 3 (equivalent to A-level) and is an intensive course which allows you to study whilst still working or meeting other commitments. It is fully recognised by universities and other higher education providers as sufficient for entry to related degree courses such as psychology, sociology, Englishliterature, social work, teaching and many more.

What you need to know
How will I study?

You will study a range of units in the disciplines of Psychology, Sociology, and English Literature. The skills and conventions of these different subjects will be conveyed through dynamic and varied teaching and learning methods, and a wide range of specific topics are included in the units. Units include ‘Appreciation of a Shakespeare Play’, ‘The Sociology of Religion’, and ‘Perspectives in Psychology.’
How will I be taught?

You will attend college 2.5 days a week and will have 2 psychology and 2 sociology lessons each week, with 1 literature lesson. Lessons will be varied and interesting, making use of discussion, group tasks, pair activities, lecture with powerpoint, independent research tasks, reading and summarising, use of chionline (Virtual Learning Environment), watching video clips, listening to podcasts – all to enhance learning and understanding to ensure assignments can be successfully completed.
How will I be assessed?

The range of assessment methods includes essays, presentations, debates, and timed assessment. There is no end of course exam. The course is credit based and each unit has a number of credits attached to it; 45 of the 60 credits will be attached to graded units, on a Pass, Merit, Distinction.
