This is a new course for 2008 which has been designed for mature students who require qualification to gain entry onto a diploma or or degree level course. The student will gain a sound overview of value base, practice and sociological issues related to social work and allied professionas e.g community work and youth work.

What you can do after this course?
The course could provide an entry route to University courses which provide the required qualifications for careers in social work, youth work, community work, youth justice. Other degree courses which could be accessed include e.g BA (Hons) in Social Policy. Applied Social Science, Sociology. Students could also progress to Higher Education at Pembrokeshire College e.g to the BA (Hons) Childhood Studies.
Entry requirements
  • Successful applicants will normally have substantial experience of life outside formal education, gained since completing compulsory schooling
  • Entry is subject to interview
  • The College welcomes applicants over 21 years of age, each application is considered on individual merit and formal qualifications may not be required dependant upon experience
