Accounting and financial professionals occupy some of the most senior management, and finance posts in industry and commerce. A degree in this area offers graduates the opportunity either to ‘fast-track’ their professional accountancy qualification, or to embark on a career in business, secure in the knowledge that their specialist skills of accounting and finance makes them extremely marketable.

Throughout your degree you’ll cover a range of specialist accounting and finance topics and also a number of modules which set accounting and finance into a wider business context. A variety of teaching and assessment methods are used to facilitate personal development and to reflect the vocational nature of your studies. If you take the degree+ route, you have the opportunity to spend your third year in a paid work placement. A number of high profile accountancy-related placements in companies such as IBM, Sony, Marks & Spencer and Xerox, as well as in accountancy practices ranging from small local and regional firms to the Big Four accounting practices, are available each year.

You have the opportunity with degree+ to work for a year on a paid placement that counts as part of your studies. When you graduate, you’ll be more employable and likely to receive a higher starting salary.
