Why study Accounting at Hope?

The global demand for finance professionals has never been higher, nor their work more varied. Accountancy will put you right at the centre of any organisation, giving you the chance to influence its business and ethical decision-making. Finance professionals are at the very centre of things. There is no better time to join the profession.

What will I study?
This programme is based on a relationship with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Students on this degree programme will be encouraged to enrol with the ACCA as this will provide the opportunity to gain part of the professional ACCA qualification (required to be a fully qualified chartered accountant) along with their academic qualification.

BA Accounting at Liverpool Hope has another unique element which is a Career Planning Process (CPP). This CPP will cover study skills, information search, learning methods, reflective practice, following an argument, written and oral communications skills, presentation skills and preparing an effective CV appropriate for work experience, part-time or voluntary work, or graduate level jobs.

Level 1
Students will study the Business Environment, Career Planning and work towards gaining part of the ACCA qualification.

Level 2
At Level 2, students study Marketing & Communication, along with work based on three more units of the ACCA qualification: Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Corporate & Business Law.

Level 3
At Level 3, students will build on the work undertaken at Level 1 and 2, studying Strategic Management, Project and Operations Management and the ACCA units on Performance Management and Financial Management.

How will I study?
The unique feature of this Accounting programme is that students undertake three knowledge-based courses and four skills-based courses as ACCA papers.

How will I be assessed?
In order to be awarded the Single Honours degree in Accounting, students have to complete all the requirements of the above subjects by successfully completing the examination and assessments as stated by Liverpool Hope internal regulations for all courses (ACCA and Liverpool Hope).
In addition, students will be given an opportunity to undertake external ACCA
examinations, these are not compulsory but students are strongly advised to attempt them. Passing the external examinations will give students direct credits for ACCA.

What do our graduates do?
A job in accountancy can help you to gain employment in a variety of organisations and a fast track to the top in your chosen field, for example as a chief financial officer, director or partner in accounting firm, forensic accountant or business adviser.
