About this course

You will need four GCSEs at grade C or above, which should include Maths and English. If you are a mature student without these qualifications, we will discuss the situation with you and advise whether or not this is the right course for you. All students should be interested in learning about how businesses record and present financial information.

About the Course
The AS level course begins with the basic techniques of double entry book keeping.
You will then learn how to construct profit and loss accounts and balance sheets for small businesses, and be introduced to basic costing and decision-making techniques. The A2 level course develops the AS level techniques further. You will learn how to prepare final accounts for different types of businesses, such as manufacturing organisations and limited companies, as well as different methods of costing and preparing cash flow statements.
By the end of the course you will have acquired a solid foundation of accounting principles and techniques. Students suited to this course are those with an interest in accounts, comfortable working with numbers and with a willingness to practice accounting techniques.
The course is complemented by trips to local businesses, eg Thorpe Park; visits from accounting companies; and some opportunities for work placement at a leading accounting firm.
Sage Accounts and Bookkeeping enhancement courses are also available.

No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .

A level Accounting could lead to:
• A university course in your chosen subject.
• Study for further accounting qualifications such as those offered by the AAT
• Employment in an accounts department.
