Course Level NVQ Level 3

Description
The course is designed for students who have prior knowledge of accounting, as a natural progression from Level 2, or from knowledge gained in the workplace.

Course Length
One year - one day per week.

What will I study?
The programme requires students to be able to perform and demonstrate their ability in a range of accounting and associated tasks. For part-time students it is possible that some elements can be accredited in the workplace.

CORE UNITS:-

Unit 5 Maintaining Financial Records and Preparing Accounts

Unit 6 Recording and Evaluating Costs and Revenues

Unit 7 Preparing Reports and Returns

Unit 21 Working with Computers

Unit 22 Contribute to the Maintenance of a Healthy, Safe and Productive Working Environment*

*This unit is a tailored version of the Council for Administrations Unit 302

Units 21 and 22 need not be repeated if they have been completed at Level 2

How will I learn?
A variety of teaching methods are used, including formal teaching, guided/individual work and workshops.

How will I be assessed?
By portfolio of work prepared and assessed in-course: by devolved assessments set by AAT by a central three-hour exam set and marked by AAT.

Where could it lead?
Natural progression to Level 4, to attain full membership of AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians). Members of AAT may go on to study for membership of the senior accounting bodies such as CIMA, Certified Accountants.
