ACS Initial Assessment

What You’ll Learn

Undertaking your ACS is more about assessment than it is about learning. Most individuals undertaking Initial ACS will be doing so for the first time, having undertaken a comprehensive programme of learning and work placement.

In some circumstances, existing Engineers will undertake Initial ACS Assessment – this arises when existing certificates have expired more than 12 months ago.

How You’ll Learn

Initial ACS is a mixture of assessing both your practical skills and theory knowledge. You can undertake assessment for:

CCN 1/CPA1: Core Gas Safety

CENWAT 1: Central Heating Boilers

CPA 1: Combustion Performance Analysis

CKR 1: Domestic Cookers

HTR 1: Gas Fires and Wall Heaters

MET 1: Meters

DAH 1: Warm Air Heating Appliances

*If candidates fail to achieve the required level of competency in either the practical or theory assessment, it may be necessary for them to re-sit the sections which they have failed. If this situation arises an additional cost may be incurred.

If you hold Domestic ACS and are interested in working with commercial gas appliances, Able Skills offers a Commercial Gas Changeover package which incorporates both training and ACS Commercial Assessment

Additional Info

Initial Assessment applies to anyone who is looking to be assessed on an appliance of any kind for the very first time or where 12 months has elapsed since certificate expiry.

You will be required to provide us with:

• Your National Insurance number
• 2 recent colour photographs

If you come under the category of someone who has held ACS but this has expired more than 12 months ago, please be aware that training is not a requirement prior to assessment.
