Act For - an introduction to the acting profession The course is fully practical and will focus on: the use and development of the voice , movement, improvisation, character work and text study. Encourages you to start realistically thinking about a career as an actor, increasing your self-confidence and developing and strengthening your acting skills in a fun and supportive environment.

We will also ensure that you are prepared for the next stage in your career. If you are considering drama school we will discuss the options, their entry requirements and available funding.

Participants that have taken the act for course have so far gained entry to the following drama schools (three-year diploma and post grad.):

ALRA, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (New York), ArtsED, Birmingham School of Acting, Central School of Speech & Drama, Drama Studio London, E15, Lamda, Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre, Mountview, Rose Bruford, The Oxford School of Drama, The Poor School, RADA, The Stella Adler Studio of Acting (New York) and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

If you have decided against drama school we will discuss the alternatives with you.

Our requirement for enrolment is that you are 18 or over, have previous acting experience and are hoping to seek a career as a professional actor. If you are at all unsure of your suitability, please contact us before enrolling.

It's a 3-hour, seven-week course with a maximum group size of 12. The course also includes an optional trip to the theatre. A 3-hour per week, seven-week course.

  • Dates: the next available course begins in January 2009.
    Starting on Saturday 24th January (and every Saturday until 7th March.)

N.B. 10% discount on total cost if you are between the ages of 18-21. Photocopied proof of drivers licence, passport or birth certificate should be attached to the application form.

To be eligible for the concessionary rate you must be a full time student or in receipt of benefits, please include photocopy of proof with your application form.
