Autumn Intake

Rooted in the principles of Stanislavski's later work, the system of physical action, the course aims to provide a structured sequence of learning opportunities. There is particular emphasis on enhancing the use of voice and body effectively in communication. The diversity of experience provided throughout the three years of training allows the students to explore the full potential of their natural abilities and to expand their range of physical, imaginative, intellectual and performance skills.

Career Development
Students are provided with a range of practical knowledge regarding their preparation for entry into the industry. Workshops may include information about castings, agents, taxes and setting up a theatre company.

Assessment
Mountview operates a system of continual written as well as oral assessments. The purpose of these assessments is to identify and explore strengths and weaknesses and to advise the students on areas of work that require further development.

Other Activities
• Carlton Hobbs Competition - Further to the study
of Radio Technique, a team of third year students
is selected to be entered for the Carlton Hobbs
BBC Radio Competition, the winners of which are
offered a six-month contract with the BBC Radio
Drama Company.

• William Poel Festival - In the third year students also have an opportunity to audition for the William Poel Festival. This is an annual festival organised by the Society for Theatre Research in association with Globe Education which offers selected students from Britain’s leading drama schools the chance to perform scenes from Elizabethan and Jacobean drama at a major London theatre.

• Specialist Workshops - A number of specialist workshops, seminars and masterclasses with leading practitioners are arranged throughout the course. These sessions provide the students with up to date information regarding current professional practice.

Mountview requires constant attendance at all timetabled classes, rehearsals, seminars and other events.

Professional Showcase
In the final term students present a Professional Showcase attended by Agents, Casting Directors and prominent members of the industry.
