Acting Masterclass

At HCS we believe acting is a craft, that it has nothing to do with the ability to pass an academic test. Instead, we prepare our students to become brave enough to stand in the moment, listening and re-acting. The key to all screen acting.

You will work on previously produced scenes and scripts developed for you. Workshop them as they evolve from words on a page. Learn to inhabit them. To reveal character through text and action, release your imagination, free your emotions and control your fear; helping you truly develop as a screen actor.

Course Outline

Improvisation. Losing you inhibitions. Confidence building.

Acting To Camera. Camera techniques. Continuity. Finding your mark. Shot size.

Script analysis and interpretation.

Work shopping scenes with Writers and Directors.

Taking direction.

Sight reading and auditioning.

An overview of the British film and television industry. The actors place in it.

In depth rehearsal of two scenes for your personal showreel.

Shooting of scenes. Using professional Lighting Cameraman and Make-up artiste.

All scenes are then professionally edited and burnt onto DVD to produce an Acting Showreel. An invaluable tool in helping attract Agents and Casting Directors.
