The Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership is designed for those individuals who wish to gain a broad, but solid foundation to allow them to follow a career in the outdoor sector or in the active leisure sector as fitness leaders, coaches and activity
leaders.
On completion of this programme, learners can progress into coaching roles and programmes as well as progress onto the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sports Development. Apprentices can also progress onto a variety of vocational qualifications offered by private providers and FE colleges allowing them to gain further knowledge in any other subsectors.

About this course
By the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved:
BTEC Certificate in Leadership through Sport;
NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership;
Functional Skill in Maths Level 1 (if required);
Functional Skill in English Level 1 (if required);
Award in Employee Rights and Responsibilities;
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
GCSE Maths Grade E or Functional Skill in Maths Level 1;
GCSE English Language Grade E or Functional Skill in English Level 1;
Working in a job role such as Activity Leader.

Course programme
This programme will contribute towards:
- meeting the generic skills priorities for the sector this includes communication, team working, customer services and employability skills;
- addressing sector specific skills gaps in order to provide a quality, welcoming, safe and motivating environment to provide a quality service in a range of sport and recreation settings;
- bringing about a more diverse workforce which reflects the community and customers they serve.
Course Assessment Method
Where the qualification does not specify the use of a particular assessment method, then learners can be assessed by a range of methods including; Direct observation of tasks or activities, examination of work products produced by learners (e.g. diary notes, site notes, completed reports), examination of witness testimonies from people, other than the assessor, who are prepared to provide statements detailing specific details of learners’ performance, review of records of ‘question and answer’ sessions covering specific aspects of the knowledge and understanding and Professional discussion. All of these assessment methods will build your portfolio of evidence.
