Course programme

The law states, to legally transport dangerous substances, above prescribed minimum levels in any vehicle, the driver MUST hold an ADR Training Certificate.

Approximately 100 million tonnes of dangerous goods are transported on our roads each year which is why it is of the utmost importance that drivers are competently trained.

The goods to be carried will need to be included on the drivers ADR Certificate. This will determine the level of training that a driver will require.

To gain this very important licence, drivers have to attend a training course and pass the SQA Examinations.

We offer this training at our fully accredited training centre, or alternatively we can run courses at employers own premises as this can work out more cost effective for larger numbers.

Normally, ADR courses are run Monday to Friday as a 5 day course, but weekend or split courses can be arranged upon request. However, it is recommended that drivers train on consecutive days as the information is retained more easily & readily for the examination.

Every trainee will be required to undertake the CORE module, and either the PACKAGED or TANKERS module (or both) & at least 1 chemical class. There are 7 chemical classes in total, which can be taken. You can take them all, or alternatively just the ones required for the goods being transported.
