Overview: The aims of this MSc are to augment and enhance the knowledge acquired at undergraduate level, through a combination of advanced scientific knowledge, interpersonal, research and management skills. The curriculum will improve employability through the development of the postgraduate skills required for a successful transition to industry or a research role in academia. This will be achieved through the delivery of Masters-level taught elements as well as the completion of novel, industrially-relevant research projects.

Normally a 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University in Aerospace Engineering or other suitable engineering discipline, including substantial Mathematics and relevant engineering content at 2.2 Honours level or equivalent standard, acceptable to the School. Course Details
The degree will consist of 120 CATS of modules from the list below, plus a dissertation (60 CATS). The degree also offers the opportunity for novel, industrially-relevant research projects.
- Autumn and Spring Semesters: 5 to 6 modules, totalling approximately 60 CATS per semester.
- Summer Semester: Project module and dissertation (60 CATS).

- Computer-Aided Engineering (20 CATS)
- Manufacturing Simulation and Automation (20 CATS)
- Operations Management in the New Economy (20 CATS)

- Research Methods (10 CATS)
Typically, about 2/3 of contact teaching time is scheduled for classroom teaching, with the remaining 1/3 scheduled for tutorials or lab activities. Most modules will also devote a portion of this time to other activities such as hands-on laboratory work, computer practicals, case studies, invited speakers, and industrial site visits.
Project and dissertation work involves regular meetings with an academic advisor, with the remaining time devoted to project management, practical lab or computer work, and preparation for written and oral reporting.
Assessment & FeedbackTaught modules are assessed by written examinations, coursework, and/or continuous assessment.
The MSc Project and dissertation is assessed based on a written thesis, and an oral presentation and interview.
Learning and TeachingContact teaching time is scheduled during normal working hours throughout the working week (mornings or afternoons, Monday through Friday).
Modules span either one or two semesters, and contact time for a given module is typically scheduled for one day of the week.
