2. Course description You will study towards a number of qualifications designed for you to achieve the skills for your chosen career: NVQ-NVQ3 Dental Nursing, Technical Certificate-Award in Dental Nursing Level 3(Technical Certificate), Key Skills- Communication and Application of Number Level 2, Other -Employer Rights and Responsiblities, Basic Health and Safety Certificate & Basic First Aid Certificate. There are several assignments to complete and an external examination. There are also some short Key Skills tests which you may be exempt from if you already have the appropriate GCSEs.

3. Entry requirements Your full commitment to the Apprenticeship is essential. It is important you take ownership for your own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Tutors are on hand to guide and support you with your training and attendance at College sessions are essential. 4. Equipment required The Dental Nursing Apprenticeship is an Advanced Apprenticeship and successful completion enables application for registration as a qualified Dental Nurse with the General Dental Council (GDC) which is now compulsory for those wanting to practice as a Dental Nurse. 5. Assessment method The NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing comprises of 11 mandatory units. The programme covers underpinning knowledge sessions to support you in achieving these units along with the Technical Certificate and includes topics such as: Health and Safety, Periodontal Disease, Caries, Endodontics, Extractions, Radiography, Anatomy and Physiology, Prevention and Restorations , Fitted and removable Prostheses . A Training Advisor will work with you and your employer to review your progress throughout the Apprenticeship. Progress reports will be given to your employer by your tutors.
