You will be working towards the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator).You will study a range of units including modelling, supporting and promoting positive behaviour in children, promoting children's health and welfare in an early years settings, promoting health and safety, promoting children's speech, language and communication development and promoting partnerships working with parents. Other units include child development from conception to seven years, continuous professional development using reflective practice in the early years sector and observation and assessment in the early years.
In addition you will be expected to work towards ICT Functional Skills Level 2 and the Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Children and Young People's Settings (if not already achieved at Level 2).

Course programme

Your progress is monitored and assessments arranged as the course progresses. They will take place on-the-job. Assessment has three aspects which are; observation of your actual performance; the knowledge and understanding you display in response to written and/ or spoken questions; and a portfolio of supporting material which you will build up containing assignments, case studies and testimony evidence.
