Course Overview
This hands-on Apprenticeship programme will equip you with skills in pipe fitting and welding. Welding gives you a chance to move into the potentially lucrative oil and gas industry once you have built on the skills learnt at the College
This Apprenticeship is ideal if you already have experience as a heating engineer and enjoy problem solving.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding and carrying out electrical work on industrial and commercial heating and ventilation systems
- Installing commercial heating and ventilation systems
- Performing industrial and commercial manual metal arc pipe jointing techniques
This course is taught in a block release style with apprentices gaining theoretical and practical experience in the College for two consecutive weeks, four times a year.
You will use industry standard facilities including two state of the art workshops, one for pipe work and the other for welding. Both workshops boast the latest tools and equipment.
Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE.
