Course description You will study towards a number of qualifications designed for you to achieve the skills for your chosen career: Apprenticeship: NVQ-NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery or Food & drink Service or Front Office Customer Service, Key Skills- Application of Number Level 1, Communication Level 1, ICT Level 1*- only relevant to Front Office and Customer Service qualifications. Other: Employer Rights and Responsibilities Advanced Apprenticeship: NVQ-NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery or Customer Service or Hospitality Supervision Key Skills- Application of Number Level 2, Communication Level 2, ICT Level 2 Other: Employer Rights and Responsibilities There are short Key Skills tests from which you may be exempt if you have the appropriate GCSEs.

It is important you take ownership for your own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Tutors are on hand to guide and support you with your training and attendance at College sessions are essential. 4. Equipment required An Apprenticeship can lead on to an Advanced Apprenticeship should you want to progress your career development further. People completing Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships with Highbury have gone on to study higher qualifications such as degrees, been promoted in their company to roles with more responsibility and within a short period of time some have gone on to become managers and even company directors. 5. Assessment method The content of the course depends on which route you follow. Units for Professional Cookery could include: Cook and finish basic poultry dishes Cook and finish basic shellfish dishes Or, if you followed a Food & Drink Service route example units you could cover include: Contribute towards effective teamwork Prepare and service cocktails A Training Advisor will work with you and your employer to review your progress throughout the Apprenticeship. Progress reports will be given to your employer by your tutors.
