Who is this course for?

This is an exciting opportunity to gain a formal qualification in photo imaging. This Apprenticeship is designed to develop workplace skills through a period of employment in the photo imaging industry, alongside the underpinning academic skills in a college environment. The course is delivered as a rolling programme, typically over 18 months, to allow enrolment at any point

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

You must have Initial Assessment results of at least Level 1 English/Maths. There are no other formal qualification requirements for entry into this apprenticeship, although there are a number of qualifications that would provide useful preparation: " GCSE Art & Design or Photography " Photography AS or A-Level " Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design or Media " Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design or Media " City & Guilds Level 2 Photo Imaging

What will I study ?

This apprenticeship deals with the skills required for an individual to work in the photo imaging sector, either as a photographer, or in digital image production, photo retail, print and processing laboratories or picture libraries. You will learn the key skills in capturing photographic images through location and studio techniques, and you will learn a range of digital editing and printing techniques. Alongside this you will achieve a range of workplace units that are tailored to your type of employment. The photo-imaging sector has always been highly dependent on the quality and standards of its output. Market research has found that 76% of the workforce is 35 and over, and this qualification helps to ensure the new supply of workers to the sector has a wide ranging skill set to meet the needs of a fast changing market.

How will I be assessed ?

Assessment will be through: Practical Coursework and Written Reports. Assessments are also carried out in your workplace. Our assessor will come and visit you at work every 6-8 weeks and assess you in your job role. Visits usually last around two hours

What qualifications could I achieve ?

You will gain nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications, which demonstrate your practical competence for working in the photo imaging industry, as well as your professional knowledge. You will complete these qualifications alongside Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy.
